Embark on Your Proficiency Voyage

Part two of our summer series is designed to enable you to hit the ground running with proficiency-based strategies! We will share tips and ideas for maximizing target language use in the classroom, helping students develop interculturality, making the most of authentic resources, teaching grammar through the Discovery Process, and leveraging Can-Do Statements for language and intercultural growth.

Spring is a beautiful time for baseball fans, but for teachers, it begins the season of assessments. Join us for a 45-minute webinar where we will discuss assessment types in a proficiency-based classroom, and more importantly, how and when to provide appropriate and meaningful feedback to your students. Bases are loaded - it is all up to you! Rubrics are incredible tools, and when it comes to using them, we cannot let the fear of striking out get in our way! What does the language in a rubric actually mean? How do I use them? How do I choose the best kind of rubric? Join us for our final installment where we look at translating rubrics into grades and encourage collaboration and discussion with other teachers on best practices using rubrics. In this 60-minute interactive webinar, your Wayside team will guide you through the integrated performance assessment planning process using EntreCulturas and EntreCultures as models. You will receive our NEW and FREE IPA planning template and we will walk you through it, step by step, to help you better understand and implement the unit IPAs. We will discuss ways to maximize these assessments that mirror real-world situations to get a clear picture of your students’ abilities in all three modes of communication. Attendees will have the chance to work along with the presenter and plan their own IPA.
